Acupuncture

Acupuncture helps the body to remember how to work by restoring its systems and organs to a healthier state.  When your body is working optimally, you wake up with more energy to create change, from your work performance, relationships, and even how you view your life.  A body that is working is harmoniously is the foundation for a fuller and happier life.

Acupuncture as part of Chinese medicine is a complete medical protocol focused on correcting imbalances in the body that when left untreated can show up as medical conditions.  The treatments work at both the root of the issue – and the branch – how the disharmony is manifesting such as headaches, fibromyalgia, diabetes, high blood pressure etc.  By treating the root, often several issues are treated at the same time. You may come in for headaches and after several treatments realize that your seasonal allergies have also lessened or resolved.

Acupuncture is a whole body medical approach to bringing balance back to the body.  Side effects are typically reduced inflammation, improved sleep, less anxiety, and overall healthier well-being.

What about the needles?

An acupuncture needle is about the thickness of a strand of hair. Most patients who are needle phobic find after the first few insertions, that they are no longer afraid. The treatments are relaxing and many patients fall asleep during treatment.

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is incredibly safe and effective when given by a trained and licensed practitioner. The needles our Acupuncturist uses are single-use, sterile needles. All Acupuncturists are trained in clean needle technique. Overall, injuries from acupuncture with a licensed practitioner are very rare.

What is my initial visit like?

During your initial visit, your Acupuncturist will review your medical history and do a Chinese Medicine intake – this is an in-depth questionnaire regarding your main complaint and the different systems of your body. You will also have ample time to ask questions.

How many appointments will it take?

This is the most common question. The general rule is that the longer you have had condition, the longer it takes to resolve. During the first appointment, our Acupuncturist will let you know the suggested number and frequently of treatments that would be best for you.
